Event Description:
Action packed 1/10th scale RC drag racing. All out custom builds that will travel close to 100 mph in 132” on the grounds of Knoxville, Tn. One of the fastest growing hobbies/sports in the world. NPRC is a no prep radio control organization that will stop in Knoxville, TN this fall to crown a Champion at one of the biggest RC races in history. People from all over America will try and take their shot at close to 45-50 thousand dollars at the King of the Smokies. Over 450 entries will compete for the top prize. This event is sponsored by a local custom carbon designer by the name of Tommy Giove and Wes Clapp of Knoxville Dragway. It will be live streamed by NPRCTV by Billy Shaw and Foster Yates.
This is a very family friendly event. All ages are acceptable and encouraged to participate or spectate.
Possible story angle:
The unique circumstances surrounding this event is the appeal of racing enthusiasts that can compete at the highest level for 4 times the amount of money for which actual full-size cars can compete. The purse is $35,000. The cost is significantly less and very customizable to one’s own taste. The appeal is that it is new and fresh on the scene and people cannot believe the speeds and crashes at an event like this.

Gates open at 4pm on Friday for racers and vendors
Racing will start Friday night at 7pm, Saturday 11am, and Sunday 9am
$20 per person to enter facility for entire weekend
Kids 10 and under are free
History of the Event:
This is the 2nd annual race which started last year and was held at PSCC in Knoxville, TN and will likely be the biggest RC NPRC in history.
