AVAILABLE PROFESSIONAL OPPORTUNITIES:

Sales Director

Seek, identify, and develop new business within specific markets with end result of a consistent stream of leads and bookings to hotels/motels/facilities via signed contracts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

Other duties may be assigned by Director of Sales and the Sr. Director of Sports Commission & Convention Sales:

  • Maintain a consistent sales effort via solicitation telephone calls, sales events, and sales travel for specific markets.
  • Promote and sell the City of Knoxville/Knox County to groups as a premiere meeting destination.
  • Work with local organizations and associations to generate leads for state, regional and or national meetings.
  • Engage in sales activities that produce leads from assigned markets to Knoxville/Knox County hospitality industry (hotel, convention center, and meeting facilities)
  • Maintain memberships in professional organizations and maintain relationships that produce sales in assigned market segments.
  • Participate in destination reviews (FAM’s) and site visits
  • Effectively communicate research and service needs to proper individuals
  • Work with Sales Team in any capacity to assist with efforts for increased team productivity
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with members of the local hospitality industry
  • Maintain individual accounts in sales database system, making sure account information is current.
  • Input and maintain sales activity into SV for record keeping and reporting purposes
  • Maintain digital files for assigned accounts by working closely with Administration Manager on accurate input and reporting of definite bookings, including applicable contracts and supporting documents (proposals, etc.)
  • Maintain traces to identify and solicit all potential business to maximize sales results
  • Perform all duties as may be assigned by Director of Sales and the Sr. Director of Sports Commission & Convention Sales.
  • Represent Visit Knoxville at selected functions, as directed by the Director of Sales and the Sr. Director of Sports Commission & Convention Sales.

Convention Services Coordinator

Part-time (25 hours/week), Monday-Friday. Hours are flexible, will work to accommodate individual preferences and requirements whenever feasible.

Responsible for providing service to Service Event Definite accounts, serve as backup for Housing program and provide administrative support to department staff. The Coordinator will assist with a variety of capacities including but not limited to: preparation of various written communications, client/customer service, events/meeting planning, reporting, research, database management and assisting with completion of specially assigned projects.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Generate weekly, monthly, and quarterly database reports as needed by Sr. Director of Convention Services
  • Assist with Familiarization) FAM Tour planning and execution
  • Coordinate itineraries for pre-planning and site visits
  • Responsible for all relevant services needed for Service Event Definite account.
    • Determine scope of destination services based on planner needs and establish rapport with planner(s) on assigned accounts
    • Distribute, communicate and coordinate all services with other Visit Knoxville personnel
    • Input accounts, monitor and make regular updates to Convention Services files in CRM database to include traces, commitments, service notes and expenses incurred
  • Provide assistance to the Visit Knoxville Housing Program and act as backup as needed
    • Field routine customer service emails and reservation calls
    • Maintain hotel profile updates within VK Housing System
    • Process incoming hotel group sub-block requests
    • Assist VK Housing hotel partners with system access and support as needed
    • Maintain CRM database for group housing contracting, reporting, and revenue tracking
    • Assist with post-event group housing reconciliation and invoice requests
  • Provide overall support to Convention Services and Housing Team to include incoming calls and emails to determine scope of events
  • Acquire bids for transportation, equipment, promotional items, etc.
  • Provide on-site event assistance when needed
  • Other duties and tasks as requested

The Visit Knoxville Marketing Department is looking for the perfect candidate(s) to come aboard our team in the form of an unpaid intern to assist us within a variety of areas:

  • Take photos/videos to create social media posts and videos for TikTok
  • Write blog posts and learn how to format and post
  • Create Canva pins for Pinterest and Instagram
  • Additional duties may be assigned

The internship position is offered during the Fall, Spring, and/or Summer months.  ALL applicants must be available to work two (2) or three (3) days out of the week, with the possibility of some evening and weekend work.  This internship is best fit for applicants interested in tourism, social media, and marketing. Housing Services Intern

The Visit Knoxville Housing Department is looking for the perfect candidate(s) to come aboard our team in the form of an unpaid intern to assist us within a variety of areas: 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Learn and utilize hotel management software to book room reservations
  • Assist with reservation phone calls, voicemails, and emails
  • Monitor reservation special requests and hotel pick-up
  • Assist with the management of team blocks for sports groups
  • Collect and record hotel updates in system
  • Create informational housing documents

The internship position is offered to students during each Spring Semester, with the opportunity to extend through the summer semester if additional hours are needed. ALL applicants must be available to work two (2) or three (3) days out of the week. This internship is best fit for applicants interested in tourism, hospitality, and/or sports. Customer service experience of some kind is highly preferred, though not required. The Sales Department is looking to find a fun, hard-working individual to join our sales team in the form of an unpaid internship.  This person will have an opportunity to hit the ground running by:

  • Researching lead lists for sales director solicitation
  • Learning and utilizing the sales database system for various projects
  • Assisting sales directors in preparation for sales blitzes, trade shows, site visits, and bid package development
  • Assisting the Sales & Services team in Familiarization (FAM) Tour development and execution
  • Other duties may be assigned by the Sr. Director of Sales
