KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (April 16, 2025) – Nourish Knoxville, in partnership with Knox County Parks & Recreation, will welcome the community to the grand opening of the 2025 New Harvest Farmers Market on Thursday, April 24, from 3 to 6 p.m. at New Harvest Park. To mark the occasion, Mayor Glenn Jacobs will ring the opening bell, officially launching the 2025 market season.

Opening day will feature a park-wide scavenger hunt in partnership with the Whole Cities Foundation. Participants will receive a free reusable shopping tote and a prize upon completing the hunt.

The New Harvest Farmers Market hosts more than 15 local vendors offering a variety of seasonal produce, meats, eggs, plants, prepared foods, and artisan goods. Two of Nourish Knoxville’s signature nutrition incentive programs will also launch on opening day:

  • Nourish Moves: This free, incentivized walking program encourages participants of all ages to pick up a pedometer at the Nourish Moves booth and explore the market and park. Each visit earns $3 in Produce Bucks, redeemable for fresh fruits, vegetables, and food-producing plants. Frequent participants can earn additional rewards, including a cooling bandana (after 10 visits) and a $10 Mast General Store gift card (after 20,000 steps) generously donated by Mast General Store. The program runs every Thursday during the market season.
  • SNAP & Double Up Food Bucks: The market accepts SNAP (formerly food stamps) and offers a matching program to stretch food dollars further. SNAP purchases are doubled up to $20 per day in Double Up Food Bucks, which can be spent on fresh fruits and vegetables. This service is available every Thursday during the market season.

The Nourish Kids program will also return this year, taking place on the third Thursday of each month from May through September. Designed for children ages 2 to 12, this free program offers hands-on activities focused on local food and agriculture. Participating children receive $5 in Produce Bucks to spend at the market.

The New Harvest Farmers Market is more than just a place to shop—it’s a welcoming space where the community can connect, explore, and support local farmers and producers,” said Mizuki Hanford, Markets Manager with Nourish Knoxville. “We’re excited to launch another season with engaging programs, fun activities for families, and fresh, local food at the heart of it all.”
