Nourish Knoxville is thrilled to announce the opening of the 2023 Market Square Farmers' Market, marking its 20th season on Wednesday, May 3 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Market Square Farmers' Market has been a cornerstone of the Knoxville community for two decades, providing residents with access to fresh, locally sourced produce and artisanal goods, and a place to gather for everyone - regardless of income, status, or background. A place to feel at home and nourished.

It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our local farmers and producers, our hardworking staff and volunteers, and, of course, our community of shoppers and supporters.” says Charlotte Tolley, CEO of Nourish Knoxville. “It’s hard to imagine we’ve been doing this work for 20 years, but it’s even harder to imagine Knoxville without a bustling market each Wednesday and Saturday!"
The 2023 Market Square Farmers' Market opening day event kicks off with Mayor Indya Kincannon presenting the 20th Anniversary Proclamation to commemorate the Market Square Farmers' Market's two decades of service to the community and the ringing of the opening bell to the farmers’ market featuring over 40 vendors selling fresh produce, artisanal foods, and handcrafted goods.
In addition to the proclamation, local history-focused nonprofits Knoxville History Project and Mabry-Hazen House Museum, will be present to provide insight into the significance of Market Square as a public market space throughout Knoxville’s history.
Furthermore, Nourish Knoxville will launch their Nourish Moves program at the Market Square Farmers' Market opening day. Participants can check out a pedometer and track their steps at the market to receive $3 in Produce Bucks. Nourish Moves will be offered every Wednesday throughout the 2023 season, encouraging market-goers to stay active while shopping for fresh produce.
