The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra will perform a FREE, family-friendly concert on Market Square in downtown Knoxville on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. Sponsored by Home Federal Bank, this concert is free and open to the public; no tickets are required. What:     The KSO kicks off the City of Knoxville’s Concerts on the Square Series on May 4. Symphony on the Square is offered free of charge as part of the KSO Education & Community Partnerships initiative and sponsored by Home Federal Bank. By performing a free concert, the Knoxville Symphony provides the community exposure to classical music and showcases the talented musicians we have living in Knoxville.

 

   Patrons are encouraged to arrive early and bring blankets and/or chairs to enjoy the popular concert. Concert goers can also bring picnic dinners or pick up food at one of the many downtown restaurants. Convenient parking is free for those arriving after 6 p.m. in the city-owned Market Square, Walnut Street, Locust Street and State Street garages. The event kicks off the City of Knoxville’s Concerts on the Square series, which includes free concerts on Market Square. Jazz Tuesdays run from May 2 through Aug. 29 and Variety Thursdays run from May 4 through June 29.

 

Who:      Music Director Aram Demirjian leads the Knoxville Symphony Chamber Orchestra in a concert of light pops, including classics from Brahms and Beethoven, plus American composers Leroy Anderson and Aaron Copland, and a medley of music by George Gershwin.

 

When:    Thursday, May 4 at 7:30 PM

 

Where:   Bill Lyons Pavilion on Market Square; In case of inclement weather, this concert will be held at the Bijou Theatre, located at 803 S. Gay St.

 

Tickets: FREE TO ATTEND; No ticket or reservation is required. This concert is free and open to the public.
