To demonstrate appreciation to Knoxville, Tennessee, the host city of the 93rd South Eastern Regional Conference of Alpha Kappa Sorority, Incorporated® (AKA), members of the international women’s organization and local leaders will plant trees at Danny Mayfield Park on February 15, 2025.

Also, the sorority will distribute food packages as part of its Childhood Hunger Initiative Power Pack (CHIPP™) program to help combat hunger. The two community service projects align with AKA’s commitment to service in local communities.

WHAT: Tree Planting at Danny Mayfield Park will honor the late District 6 Councilman Danny Mayfield and the legacy of the 14th International President of AKA, Arnetta G. McKamey Wallace, a noted resident and educator of Knoxville. The tree planting project is part of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority’s Enhance Our Environment initiative that promotes environmental sustainability to combat climate change through tree planting campaigns.
