Educational Conferences in Knoxville

The influence of Knoxville-based research and technology can be found throughout the world. The city is home of The University of Tennessee, the state’s flagship university now on track to join the nation’s Top 25 public research institutions. The University assists in managing the U.S. Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory - just minutes away. The University of Tennessee Medical Center is the region’s only academic medical center, Magnet® recognized hospital and Level I Trauma Center.  And The University’s Anthropology Research Facility has received international recognition for its forensic techniques.

For these reasons and countless others (including a safe, walkable downtown that both kids and parents enjoy), Knoxville serves as the ideal host city for education-based conferences, events and competitions – like Global Finals for Destination Imagination.  For more than 15 years, Knoxville has welcomed thousands of the world’s most innovative young minds as they compete on teams from throughout the world. Since 2011, Knoxville has also been pleased to host the Smoky Mountain Regional FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Competition. This event brings over 50 high school robotics teams to the city to compete.
