Many of Knoxville’s 85 miles of paved greenways follow natural features like rivers, ridges, and streams. Through parks, neighborhoods, and community centers, the greenway system provides recreational routes for runners, walkers, bikers, and adventurers of all kinds.
Knoxville has an abundance of natural trails for any type or adventure. Twisting through the rugged terrain of wooded forests floor or meandering under the wide blue sky in an open field, natural habitats, historic settlements, and unique geologic features may be found on many trails in the area. Bluffs and mountain ridges offer inspiring views that change with the seasons.
For adventures outside the city, beautiful and varied trail systems await in state and national parks, forests, and wildlife areas. High ridges, deep gorges, and remote backcountry trails will challenge those with more experience, while scenic footpaths along lush vegetation provide colorful displays for more leisurely hikes.
