Just off the Cumberland Trail, Devil's Racetrack is a formation of two rock 'fins' that stick out of the side of the mountains. The climbing here is reminiscent of Seneca in West Virginia. There are a number of sport climbs at Racetrack, the bolts are often well spaced and the anchors often require natural gear. Wear a helmet and be prepared for some adventure, with loose rock and the possibility of bees nests on the routes early in the season. The parking area has been the scene of many break-ins, so please do not leave valuables in your vehicle. Some locals recommend leaving a six pack as a peace offering and claim that they often return from the crag to find one beer remaining. In spite of the parking lot drama, Devil's Racetrack is home to some fantastic climbing in a unique setting that will leave you smiling with satisfaction at the end of the day.

Directions: Take exit 134 on I-75. From there drive to Cove Lake State Park. Go past the entrance to the park, and take the next left. Follow this road until it intersects Butter and Egg Road. Continue through the intersection. After about a quarter of a mile, you will see a New house with a red tin roof. Turn left down the gravel road directly before this house. Shortly, you will see a gravel road on the right blocked off with big boulders. Park here, and hike up the gravel road parallel to the creek for several minutes until you see a easy place to cross the creek to your right. Once you cross the creek follow the paths up to the nose of the main spire. Everything to the left of the nose is the north face, everything to the right is the alley.
