Visit Knoxville Powerboat Classic
The hottest Superleague Race boats in the world powered through turns and streaked down the straights of the Tennessee River at top speeds of over 100 mph! Trials runs took place throughout the day on Saturday with the final races on Sunday. Racers came from all over the country to fly through our beautiful river wowing spectators! Pet Photo Contest with Young-Williams Animal Center
Pet lovers joined us at Vol Landing for a fun Instagram pet photo contest and tagged their photos with #knoxfido! The two photos with the most ‘likes’ won pooch prize packs from citifido! Young-Williams Animal Center was at Vol Landing on Saturday with props, snapping pictures for the contest and keeping our furry friends safe, hydrated, and cool.
Urban Hike with TVA
TVA led a new Urban Hike from Downtown to Island Home Park on Saturday. Visitors and locals enjoyed meeting the TVA hiking guides for a beautiful, scenic hike over the river and to the park! Many were amazed how easy it is to go from the center of our great city into our urban wilderness! The hike is approximately a mile and a half one way and will end at Island Home Park. Furry companions are always welcome! If you are feeling extra frisky, take the extra mile to and from Ijams!
Ingress Mission Day
Ingress is a location-based augmented reality exergame consisting of capturing ‘portals’ at places of cultural significance. Gameplay relies heavily on the players/teams physically moving throughout the community in order to interact with these portals to complete each mission. This is very exciting for Knoxville to have been chosen as Ingress Mission Days are played across the globe. The mission day will take place all day Saturday. Click here for more information.
Slow Rides to Breweries with KABA
Knoxville Area Brewers Association showed off just a handful of Knoxville’s great breweries! Representatives from Balter Beerworks, Alliance Brewing Company, Last Days of Autumn Brewery, Crafty Bastard Brewery and Saw Works Brewery met riders at Vol Landing to lead them in a relaxed, slow bike ride to their respective breweries. Last Days of Autumn also hosted a fun Beer & Brats Picnic at their location on Saturday. Needless to say, going from trails to taps is EASY in Knoxville!
Guided Bike Ride with Downtown YMCA
Bikers met at the Downtown YMCA on Saturday to travel from downtown, through World’s Fair Park, then onto the greenway to Vol Landing! All involved enjoyed downtown biking as well as the powerboat race, dock dog jumping and fly boarding tricks at Vol Landing!
