Veteran journalist and storyteller Vince Vawter will talk about the sequel to his Newbery Honor Book Paperboy, on Tuesday, August 7, at 7 p.m. at the East Tennessee History Center. The sequel, Copyboy, has been chosen as a Junior Library Guild selection.

The event, which is sponsored by Friends of the Knox County Public Library, WUOT and Union Ave Books, is free and open to the public. Copies of the author’s books will be available for purchase and signing. For details, visit http://www.knoxfriends.org/news-events/vince-vawter/.

Victor Vollmer, the protagonist of Paperboy, returns in Copyboy. Six years older and holding down a new job in Memphis in the 1960s, he’s about to embark on a life-changing mission for his mentor Mr. Spiro.

Vawter has a 40-year career in newspapers, including with the Knoxville News Sentinel where he was managing editor. Currently retired, he lives with his wife near Knoxville on a small farm in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains.
