Join us for this celebration of the contributions of African American Women of the Suffrage Movement History!
The country is preparing to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the women’s right to vote. As we prepare for this celebration, we are planning to pause and celebrate the African American women who also fought for this great right. It is important that everyone know that it took a great effort from ALL women to make this happen.
We are therefore celebrating by presenting a showcase honoring these women. Women leaders from across the city will sing, dance, read and act in honor of the sisterhood of suffrage.
Children from grades 5 to12 have been invited to research and write a two page essay about historical women they admire or about the great Tennessee history of how we got the right to vote. These essays will be compiled and placed in a book which will be published.
There will be a Meet & Greet from 2:00PM - 2:30PM. A live performance showcase from 2:30PM - 3:30PM. And interview and photo opportunities from 3:30PM - 4:00PM.
