The Brockefellers goes back to when Brock Henderson first started learning to play pedal steel in 2007. At the time, his pal Clark Barnett, introduced him to the album “12 Golden Country Greats” by the band Ween; he obsessed over it, writing out charts for the songs and working out its pedal steel parts prior to purchasing the instrument. A supposed one-off gig at Preservation Pub in downtown Knoxville to play the album in its entirety turned into a regular run of shows as the band Honky Tonks Anonymous; Barnett played bass in that group, and when he had to step down to meet family responsibilities, Henderson changed the name to The Brockefellers to finish the Pub residency.
The Brockefellers combine surf rock and rockabilly for a unique sound. They play every last Sunday of the month at Barley's.
