September features local musician, Haley Labelle! With a love of nature and life and all things that grow and fade within the two, Haley Labelle shares song-stories of her experience, those of people she knows, and those that she has imagined. Knoxville-based Labelle hails from the hills of Maynardville, Tennessee, and pairs the rural influences of her upbringing with her lived-experience to form an ever-changing repertoire of quiet, dreamy indie folk music. She is inspired most by the likes of Gillian Welch and Tom Waits, all the way to David Bowie and Mitski. Labelle's calm and compelling performances have been described by one eloquent listener as "sounding like how watermelon tastes." She has released a self-produced single and has begun working toward her first professional solo project.
The featured local Maker is Georgia Vogel of Honeymouth Leathergoods in the Old City. Stop in and say hello, and meet the Maker providing quality leather goods, clothing & accessories in downtown Knoxville.
