Multiple standing ovations have greeted the ten previous performances of Knoxville Opera Goes to Church…A Celebration of Talent! Knoxville Opera is privileged to present the Knoxville Opera Gospel Choir, local soloists, together with the distinguished principal artists of Madame Butterfly in a unique presentation of gospel, spirituals, and operatic gems. This free-admission concert is one of Knoxville Opera’s yearly 100 education/community activities.

"We are excited to share our music at this concert celebrating the 11th birthday of the Knoxville Opera Gospel Choir. The 50 singers and instrumentalists represent 20 churches from many counties in and around Knoxville and Nashville. Our goal is to unite all people in communal love through our eclectic combination of repertoire. It is an inspiration to both performers and our very enthusiastic audience,” said Jeanie Turner Melton, Choir Director.

“We are privileged to contribute to our community with this unique event that unites all music fans who appreciate diverse cultures” said Maestro Brian Salesky, “and we are most grateful for the support of our generous sponsors who make this concert possible.”
