About

Knox News is changing its annual High School Sports Awards show from an in-person event, originally scheduled for May 27 at the Tennessee Theatre, to a star-studded broadcast awards show that will be available for all to watch on any desktop or smart device at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 18.

Our team did not take this change lightly. However, to ensure the safety and health of our honorees and their families during the COVID-19 pandemic, we felt it was critical to provide a new experience that eliminated those risks. With the new show format, we will still be able to shine the spotlight on the incredible accomplishments of the athletes, coaches and teams in the Greater Knoxville-area and ensure that their hard work and dedication does not go unnoticed.

Similar to the in-person event, the new on-demand broadcast show will feature announcements of the finalists and winners for all of our awards for the 2019-2020 school year, with the exception of spring sports as these were not completed.

The show will be hosted by television sports anchors, Jesse Palmer and Sage Steele. Various celebrity athletes will also be participating in the award presentations, including New Orleans Saints Quarterback, Drew Brees, as the football award presenter; Olympic gold medalist, Michael Phelps, as the swimming award presenter; Olympic gold medalist, Venus Williams, as the tennis award presenter; Olympic gold medalist, Gabby Douglas, as the gymnastics award presenter; Olympic gold medalist, Misty May-Treanor, as the volleyball award presenter, and many more.
