Bring the family to Ijams Nature Center for a great time celebrating all things owl! Adults and kids alike will gain a deeper appreciation for these animals while having a “hoot” of their own. There will be Owl games, Owl pellets, Owl meet and greets, Owl walks, and even an Owl call competition.
Doors open at 6 p.m. with games, pellet dissections, and a practice session for our owl call competition. Games shut down and the call competition begins at 6:45 p.m. Everyone is invited to sign-up in one of our three age groups to give your best call, or just sit back and watch the fun. Each group will be judged by our panel of naturalists (don’t worry, they’re nice) and the winner receives a prize!
Once the call contest is finished we will meet some of the owls that live here at Ijams. Then at 8 p.m. we split into walk groups, and head out onto the Ijams trails to listen for wild owls. You will select your walk group when you arrive at the Hootenanny. One walk is designed for families to look for owls while having fun with night hike activities, and one is designed for those who want to walk and seriously search for owls.
Sign up today to have a “hooting” good time at Ijams. All ticket holders should arrive at 6 p.m. to enjoy the complete program.
This program meets in the Visitor Center at Ijams Nature Center and includes time on Ijams trails.
