The Big Ears Festival - Knoxville’s biggest, boldest, and most dynamic festival experience - has become one of the world’s most eagerly anticipated cultural events, a 4 day weekend featuring the most celebrated, innovative musicians and composers of our time - spanning rock, jazz, classical, folk, electronica and including an array of Grammy Award, Pultizer Prize, and MacArthur “Genius” Grant winners - in over 100 concerts in Knoxville’s extraordinary array of world-class concert hall, places of worship, listening rooms, clubs, and galleries.

For a weekend each year, the Big Ears Festival causes Knoxville to have one of the highest concentrations of Pultizer Prize, MacArthur “Genius” Grant, and Grammy Award winning musicians and artists of any city in the United States.

Free events take place throughout the city - many for the whole family - all weekend long.   From sacred harp singing to Irish jam sessions to improv sessions, special surprise concerts, panels, discussions, and more, Knoxville’s Market Square, Knoxville Museum of Art, Visit Knoxville!, Boyd’s Jig & Reel, and more will be brimming with events all weekend long.

Stop by the Market Square on Saturday for the “eternal jam” that morphs into the “Fiddler’s Convention” or come to Visit Knoxville for a unique Big Ears spin on the WDVX Blue Plate specials throughout the weekend. Visit the Knoxville Museum of Art to explore the Great Hall with the sound of Rova Saxophone Quartet or Irish harpist Aine O’Dwyer.  Come by the Jig & Reel all weekend long for all sorts of fun surprises and discover just who IS playing that “secret” show on the schedule.
