Ijams Beginning to Bird is designed for beginning birders to gain identification skills, learn about the complex life of birds, and have a chance to speak with other bird enthusiasts. This month we are getting our warbler necks ready!
Yes, it is that magical time of year right before spring migration where every birder has to reacquaint themselves with the warblers. These beautiful birds are a pain to I.D. as you stare into the tallest branches for a glimpse of yellow, just to discover that almost every stinking warbler has yellow on it somewhere. Join an Ijams Naturalist as we go beyond color to prepare ourselves for another spring migration season.
These programs are primarily for beginning birders, and all skill levels are welcome. Before the program there is an optional 30 minute birdwalk held from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. This walk is not tied to the program topic, and is a chance for all birders to practice their identification skills and share their knowledge with each other. Ijams has binoculars available for those who need them.
Meets at Ijams Visitor Center for an indoor presentation, with an optional walk starting at 9:00 a.m.
