“All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages.”
-As You Like It Act II Scene VIII

The Plot:
After an awkward and unsuspecting "meet cute" between Rosalind and Orlando, Rosalind, and Celia escape to The Forest of Arden, with Touchstone, in search of liberty after their recent banishment. Among the thick cover of the forest trees, the girls encounter many acquaintances - one of which being Orlando. The only problem with this is that in order for the girls to travel safely, they have taken on full disguises. Celia is now "Aliena" a shepherdess and Rosalind is now "Ganymede" a boy Shepard. So, when they see Orlando in the forests, Rosalind decides that "Ganymede" will convince Orlando to use him as a stand-in for Rosalind. So, Orlando continues to flirt and confess his undying love to Rosalind, thinking he is really talking with a young boy. Pretty messy, huh?

The best way to summarize the mess Rosalind finds herself in is in her own line: "Look, here comes a lover of mine and a lover of hers." As she stands in front of her lover, Orlando, who has no idea what is going on.

Want to see how this mess gets cleaned up? Will Orlando & Rosalind ever get to be together as their true selves? Make your trip to the Scruffy City even more memorable & join Knoxville Shakespeare at Ijams Nature Center to find out what happens with these entrancing lovers and so much more!

On the way, you can enjoy Knoxville's newest dinner and nightlife destination found in SoKno on Sevier Avenue, just over the Gay Street Bridge. Dinner, drinks, brews, and the Bard? We've got you covered.
