Tennessee gained admission to the Union as our nation’s sixteenth state on June 1, 1796. Every year, the seven members of the Historic Homes of Knoxville (Blount Mansion National Historic Landmark, James White’s Fort, Historic Ramsey House, Marble Springs State Historic Site, Mabry-Hazen House, Crescent Bend, and Historic Westwood), hold open houses on or around this date to celebrate Tennessee statehood and share our love of local history. This year, as our museums are just beginning to open to the public, and many folks are not ready to visit museums in person, we are bringing Statehood Day into the virtual world with a video tour of all seven of our museums. Blount Mansion’s Director of Marketing and Public Relations, Michael Jordan, is shooting, hosting, and editing this professionally-produced event, which will premiere on Blount Mansion’s YouTube channel and the Historic Homes of Knoxville’s Facebook Page at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 1st. The video will remain online for viewing afterwards.
Since we are still putting the final touches on the video, the final links will not be ready until this weekend. Members of the public seeking more information should contact us at (865) 525-2375 or info@blountmansion.org.
