The NSRA Street Rod Nationals South returns to Knoxville for the 35th consecutive year! Dates of the 44th annual event will be held on May 4th, 5th and 6th, with all activities at the Chilhowee Park and Expo Center.
Be there, as 2,500 pre-1988 street rods, muscle cars, custom cars, trucks and specialty vehicles carry 8,000 plus participants from all over the South Eastern United States and farther to attend this super automotive extravaganza.
According to Jerry Kennedy, Special Events Director for the National Street Rod Association, The Street Rod Nationals South is annually the largest automotive event in the region and will welcome all cars and trucks thirty years of age and older to join a full weekend of rodding fun. The combination car show, trade show, and crafts fair will not only feature over 2,500 beautifully painted and chromed rods, customs, muscle cars and specialty vehicles to view, but commercial exhibits, vintage parts swap meet, arts and crafts fair, live entertainment during the day and night time too, Sunday worship service, plus games, food, and fun for the whole family. The Street Rod Nationals South is a huge outdoor event with all vehicles on display at least 30 years old in manufacture.
Returning in 2018 will be the Streetkhana – a fast action autocross NSRA style. Competition will be held all day Friday and Saturday as participants in various classes drive their vehicle through a timed obstacle course. Join us on the midway side of the grounds and take a free ride with an experienced driver. A true thrill you won’t soon forget.
New this year – Knoxville Builder Spotlight, whereas the Street Rod Nationals South spotlights one of the countries top builders each and every year. This year’s spotlight Builder will be Alan
Johnson and Johnson’s Hot Rod Shop of Gadsden, Alabama. Builder of some of the industries top award winning vehicles. Stop by and view a few of these creations.
The NSRA Super Prize program returns with $67,000.00 in Super Prize giveaways presented to lucky participants throughout the weekend, plus the NSRA SUNDAY $WEEP$TAKE$ and all for the participants compliments of the National Street Rod Association.
This event generates an annual income of 16,000,000.00 dollars to the Knoxville economy, and according to NSRA officials, has contributed over 280,000,000,00 dollars to Knox County since the event came here in 1984.
