Knoxville, Tenn. – The Knoxville Track Club is hosting its’ Annual Calhoun’s New Year’s Day 5K Run/Walk and Kids 400M Dash on January 1, 2015 to ring in the new year
The race route is a loop on Parkside Drive beginning and ending near the Calhoun’s and Smoky Mountain Brewery restaurants.
“This is one of our most popular races each year and we expect this year to be bigger than ever,” said Interim KTC Executive Director Kristy Altman. “The course is fairly flat and fast and great for runners and walkers. This is a great way for our community members to start the New Year and kick off pursuit of their personal fitness goals.”
In lieu of the usual age group awards, the Calhoun’s New Year’s Day 5K celebrates the top 100 men and the top 100 women with a signature wine glass. In addition, the oldest male and female as well as the youngest male and females are recognized with special awards. The 2014 KTC Grand Prix winners will be recognized at this year’s event for their outstanding racing performances in the prior year.
Cost to register is $25 through December 29 and $30 on race day. Through December 29, KTC Members can receive a $5 discount. No discounts can be applied on race day. Participants who choose no shirt can deduct $5 anytime. The Kids 400M Dash is $5 through race day. This is a team event and teams of four or more can also deduct $5 from their entry fee but must register as a team.
