Knoxville, TN —Revolution3 is set to return to Knoxville May 17th & 18th for its fifth year running, with a full weekend of events appealing to an assortment of individuals and families. This year’s event is the 2014 REV3 Series Championship for the Professional & Amateur Series Titles.

“We are thrilled to have Knoxville host our Championship Event in 2014. Knoxville is becoming a truly outdoor destination and we are proud to bring REV3 to the Knoxville community. Knoxville course offers athletes an amazing venue with a challenging series championship worthy course,” Charlie Patten, founder of Revolution3 said.

REV3 Knoxville is this year’s REV3 pro and age group championship, with athletes racing all 2013 season to qualify for the event. “On behalf of the city and everyone at Visit Knoxville, we are thrilled to host REV3 for a fifth year,” said Visit Knoxville President Kim Bumpas. “What a great weekend full of athleticism on all levels.” REV3 will again be working with Visit Knoxville, Legacy Parks Foundation and Outdoor Knoxville to host several events for the local community throughout the weekend.

Professionals set to return to Knoxville include past champions Cameron Dye, Lauren Goss, Kelly Williamson and Matty Reed. Erik Limkemann, the current series leader will face a strong challenge for the series title from Richie Cunningham, previous champion. Goss will attempt to clinch her series title but with Radka Vodickova only 150 points back, this looks to be quite the race.

Olympic and Half REVtriathletes will begin their Sunday morning with a point-to-point swim in the Tennessee River. The bike course takes the athletes on beautiful countryside roads of Knox and Blount counties,. The run is an out and back along the Greenway Trails of Knoxville. The finish traverses past the University of Tennessee campus and has a backdrop of the famous World's Fair Park Sunsphere

“Knoxville is a vibrant community, an active community. We want to bring our event to them, not just so they can watch a triathlon event, but so they can participate, be a part of it and truly grasp the healthy benefits to an active lifestyle,” Patten said. “We are beyond happy to be adding more triathlon specific events for the future of the sport. This is a race where all the kids will be treated just like the pros; we will roll out all the Revolution3 Red Carpet treatment for all participants.”
