Knoxville, TN- On Saturday, January 17th, Keep Knoxville Beautiful, along with CAC and Emerald Youth Foundation AmeriCorps members, are hosting an MLK Day of Service in respect and remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Two separate neighborhood cleanups will be performed from 9 AM to 12 PM in the West View neighborhood and East Knoxville's Morningside Park. Volunteers can meet at the pavilions at West View Park off Keith Avenue and Western or at the Alex Haley statue at Morningside Park off Dandridge. The goal is to clear over 40 streets, 2 parks, 2 neighborhoods, 1 school and 1 cemetery of roadside litter and debris in hopes to create cleaner, greener spaces for community members to enjoy. Keep Knoxville Beautiful will provide all materials, including trash bags, gloves, litter pickers, and safety vests for all participates and even offer hot cocoa for all braving this January cold. A free hot lunch will also be provided after the cleanup. Please come out of join us for a day of fun and community betterment. As Dr. King said "Our goal is to create a beloved community and this will require a qualitative change in our souls as well as a quantitative change in our lives".
