Knoxville, TN - Mabry-Hazen House will host a new event, Lineage and Legacy, on October 19th, 2014 from 2pm – 5pm. Since the museum opened in 1992, this is the first event the foundation has hosted that actively seeks to recognize local Mabry descendants. A special celebration of one of Knoxville’s first families, the event will center on remembering the family’s impact both past and present. Join us for a one-act play as Evelyn Hazen reminisces on the history of her family in 1862 during the Civil War, with special appearances by William Montgomery Churchwell and General Joseph A. Mabry. In addition, the event will serve as the annual meeting of the membership. Guests will enjoy light refreshments, live music from Dixieghost, and tours of the historic home. Please join us as we recognize family descendants and our supporting members. The event is free and open to the public. Please RSVP by October 12th, 2014 by calling 865- 522-8661 or visit www.mabryhazen.com for more information.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Built in 1858, Mabry-Hazen House is strategically located on the highest hill east of downtown Knoxville with spacious views in all directions. The home was occupied and defended by both armies during the Civil War.  It housed three generations of the same family for 130 years; the museum showcases one of the largest original family collections in America. Your attendance will help support the museum's mission to preserve and educate the public about an important part of East Tennessee history.
