FARRAGUT, TN - The Farragut Arts Council, in conjunction with the Town of Farragut and the Knox County Library Farragut Branch, will host the ninth annual "Farragut Book Fest for Children" on Saturday, April 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Founders Park at Campbell Station. The Arts Council is seeking local authors of children's books to participate at the event.

This educational and entertaining event will offer an array of activities throughout the day, from storytelling to book signings to music to art activities. As a literary event, reading and learning are primary objectives of the "Farragut Book Fest for Children." Children will have the opportunity for one-on-one interaction with participating authors, discovering their books and characters while offering the authors the chance to promote and sell their books. New this year, Bright Star Touring Theatre (www.brightstartheatre.com) will deliver two performances during the event: Upcycled Cinderella at 11 a.m. and The Reluctant Dragon at 1 p.m.

For a $25 fee, authors will be provided a tent, table, two chairs and lunch at the event; authors will supply their books, decorations and signage. At no charge, authors can also choose to bring their own set-up materials, which must include a tent (must fit a 10-by-10 space). Authors can register and pay, if applicable, at www.townoffarragut.org/register by clicking the Programs tab (a nominal $0.06 convenience fee will be assessed) and at the Farragut Town Hall (11408 Municipal Center Drive - second floor, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) beginning Monday, Jan. 25 through Friday, March 25.
