Knoxville, TN – The classic American muscle car will be rolling into Knoxville starting June 23rd. The Corvair Society of America will host its International Convention at both the Downtown Marriot and the Knoxville Civic Coliseum. Owners and enthusiasts will enjoy driving events, car displays, autocross and more. The car display is free to the public June 27th.

The Knoxville Area Corvair Club will be hosting the event that goes from city to city each year. They are also celebrating their 30th year as a club. The convention will run June 23-27. Participants can register at the Downtown Marriot. The public is invited on Saturday to talk with owners and see these flat six cylinder engine automobiles.
The Corvair automobile was introduced by Chevrolet in 1959 as an economy car designed to compete with Volkswagen. The Corvair is the only American car produced with an air cooled engine. Several versions of the Corvair were manufactured during the production run to 1969 to include sedans, convertibles, station wagons, trucks ,vans and a joint effort with another manufacturer to produce the Corvair powered motor home called the Ultra Van. All Corvair engines are a flat six cylinder engine with different fuel induction systems to a max horsepower rating of 180.
