KNOXVILLE------The Carpetbag Theatre’s annual “Youth Theatre Festival” returns June 16th, 2017 at 10:00am until 3:00pm at the 4th United Presbyterian Church located at 1323 North Broadway. This event is a day long schedule of performances and workshops for the Knox County area youth led by young people, volunteers and the staff of the Carpetbag Theatre. Workshops will be offered for Dance, Poetry, Hip-Hop, Storytelling, Arts & Crafts and much more, as the theme for the day is, and has always been, “I can do that!”

The Youth Theatre Festival is designed to give each young person in attendance the rare opportunity to experience performances from local youth and nationally touring artists, as well. The performances will be followed by a brief break for lunch then an afternoon full of workshops led by the performers, themselves, in order to offer the chance for young people to be empowered by learning through the arts.

This year the Carpetbag Theatre will present extraordinary youth performers from the Knoxville community, as well as performances and workshops from the Cattywampus Puppet Parade, Kuumba Watoto Dance and Drum Troupe, Tennessee Children’s Dance Ensemble, students of Dragonfly Aerial Arts Studio and a performance by nationally touring singer-songwriter Eli Lakes of Atlanta, Georgia.
