Knoxville, Tennessee - Visit Knoxville is pleased to be working with SERVPRO® of Rocky Hill, Sequoyah Hills and South Knoxville to host the first Knoxville Memorial Stair Climb. The climb is a charity event commemorating the 343 FDNY firefighters who lost their lives on 9/11. All funds raised by this event will be donated to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation to help support the surviving families. The event will take place on the morning of September 20, 2014 at the Sunsphere. Event registration starts at 7:00am followed by the opening ceremony at 8:30am and the climb will be from 9am until 2pm.

Each participant in this event will climb the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center, symbolically recreating the heroic efforts of the FDNY firefighters.  Firefighters, police, first responders and military are invited to take part in this event so that each of the 343 fallen FDNY firefighters can be honored.

We invite the community to come out and support these men and women as they pay tribute to the fallen.  It will be a day of physical challenge and endurance as well as a solemn reflection and remembrance of first responders who lost their lives September 11, 2001 in New York City.
